Letter Cutting and Stonecarving

'Wantsley Barn'1

PhiL Brown - Wednesday, April 11, 2018
'Wantsley Barn' house name sign, one of two carved each featuring hand drawn lettering and including a design based on an ammonite,
something relevant to the clients' premises. Hand painted in brown weatherproof masonry paint.

'WEACHLEY' house name plaque. This client asked for the lettering to be specially designed,
as they had seen and liked an earlier work of mine, called 'Homedene'.

'HILLCREST' house sign

PhiL Brown - Wednesday, April 11, 2018

'HILLCREST' house sign in slate, finished but, in this image, unpainted. At the client's request, the lettering in the final version was painted gold.

'Sundial Cottage'

PhiL Brown - Wednesday, April 11, 2018
'Sundial Cottage', a house sign in Blue Lias. The font style used here isn't the easiest to get right, but a lot of people like it, either because it's 'a bit different' or because it's 'like handwriting', and it looks good in the harder dark grey stone. Width approx 42cm.

'Ju-t Im-gi-e' (garden stone)

PhiL Brown - Sunday, April 08, 2018

'Ju-t Im-gi-e' a garden stone idea. Freestyle hand-drawn lettering incised into a lovely piece of Ham Stone. Approx 26" long.

'Rose Cottage' house name plaque

PhiL Brown - Friday, April 06, 2018
Here's another hand-carved house name plaque, 'Rose Cottage', this time in a semi-ragged piece of Portland Stone. In case you're wondering,
yes, the rose design has also been incised and hand-painted by yours truly.

Peace Lily Memorial Stone

PhiL Brown - Friday, April 06, 2018

I recently completed this BAS-RELIEF in Portland Stone, created from an original design drawing by the client themselves.

My task was to 'realise' or re-imagine it in 3-D.  It measures 31cm x 31cm.
